You know how it is, you read countless amounts of good reviews on one particular product and before you know it you decided to try it for yourself thinking you jut purchased the greatest product ever.
Well, that is pretty much what I did! I read probably a good dozen reviews on the color Tattoo 24hr by Maybelline. They were all great reviews so when I decided to give it a go my expectations were pretty high. I was looking for a Champagne-type of colour so I got the Eternal Gold 05 .
You probably guess by now that I was rather very disappointed by this product pretty much straight away and here are the reasons:
First of all, I found it very hard to apply, I tried with my fingers first and you really have to press hard into the product to get a good enough amount on your finger. The application on my eyelid was difficult, it wasn't blending and I noticed that if I was making a mistake I had to pretty much use an eye make-up remover and remove it all and start all over again. Then I also tried with a small brush thinking perhaps it will be better to apply. Well, it wasn't, the result was the same.
Secondly, on all the reviews I read, all were saying that this product was pretty much crease free. Maybe it is my type of skin or my eyelids are not like everybody else's (probably) but it definitely wasn't crease free. After a few hours I had creases all over my eye and so for me it's a no-no.
Thirdly this product is labelled as a 24 hr make-up. I am not usually a person who believes in or is bothered about a product that 'offers' very long lasting wear because from my experience they very rarely work but I can ensure you that his product did not last 24hrs. The longest I wore this product was probably 12 hours and at the end of the 12 hours the colour wasn't as vibrant, it was creased and the amount of eye-shadow on my eyelid was slowly but surely flaking away.
The only good side of this product is the colour. I really like the golden champagne-like colour but, unfortunately, this cream eye-shadow formula did nothing for me.
I would like to point out that it doesn't mean this product is not good, but perhaps it didn't work on my skin type or perhaps my little pot was from a bad batch, who knows? Having said that I still love Maybelline I do think their mascaras, foundations and lipsticks are usually really good, but their Colour Tattoo range is definitely not a favourite with me.
