As a blogger you know how exciting it is to open your inbox and find an incredible invitation. Well... that's what happened to me few weeks ago when Malmaison PR invited me to celebrate with them their 25th Anniversary. On the menu : music, cocktails, good company and food! What more to ask really?!
For the past 25 years Malmaison dared to be different, from any other hotels, by converting unique building such as churches, brothels and prison into hotels. Not only their hotel have always lots of quirkiness and interests but they also love show casing unique arts they also offer amazing food. Whatever the reason for you to stay at Malmaison for a night, a drink or simply dine you'll love their unique style.
The Oxford Malmaison is located few steps away from the new & fabulous Westgate shopping mall but also from the redeveloped Castle Quarter but also steps away from art gallery, restaurants, bars etc. and it is only 8 minutes walk to Oxford train station so really a perfect location. The Malmaison Oxford was originally a Victorian prison.
I was lucky to be showed by Meghan, the Oxford Malmaison event coordinator, one of the Oxford Malmaison bedroom. As she explained to me 4 cells walls were knock down to make just one bedroom, excluding the bathroom! They kept lots of the prison feature such as the door, but also the main inmate stairs which are just stunning to see in real (highly recommended) and other bits and bobs that you can see while walking through corridors or the reception.
Now back to the party! On my arrival I was welcome by Victoria and Meghan two lovely ladies that organised the events. Both made me feel welcome very quickly with a glass of Champagne. Following this I found myself talking to other people coming from different background (journalist, locals etc) and before i Knew it I found my way to the blogger group (Which is easy to recognise! Usually the bloggers have an iPhone stuck to one hand and is always looking for that perfect Instagram background). I met few lovely other bloggers and before we knew it we were sharing food, laugh, cocktails and of course business cards (as bloggers do).
Then Meghan, the event coordinator, decided to show us around and it is with delight that I rediscovered one of the bedroom, but she also show us the absolutely stunning bar, lounge, outside garden etc. but what was really fun was to see one of the cells which was kept unchanged. Even so it was very interesting to see, it also felt very wrong and sad to see such a small cell to be the room of 3 to 4 inmates. It felt very claustrophobic to say the least.
Back to the party, more excellent food was kept being sent our way from the kitchen and even more cocktails were created to satisfied our taste buds. The celebration was in full swing !

I would like to take the opportunity to say thank you to Oxford Malmaison for the invitation and the lovely good bag which include beautiful product from the skincare brand Arran.
Oh what a fun idea for a hotel! it looks much nicer than I'd expect with the prison background, they did a great job with it! Looks like a good night out too! :)
